Mindstate is a platform created to explore societal issues, through teams with diverse participants, that can lead to innovative change, first local, then global.
Its methodology brings together educational and professional designers and students from diverse cultural backgrounds and academic fields (psychology, business studies, law, entrepreneurship) to work collaboratively in short sprints to solve urban environmental challenges, develop workable ideas and ultimately create change. This design-led ideation sprint format has successfully generated an idea for a recycling app which is currently in development with the Municipality of Tel Aviv.
60 Cornell Tech masters students participated in a Tel Aviv based ideation sprint in January 2019 to tackle a five pronged urban catalyst challenge: Breathe in the City, Move around the City, Talk to the City, Chill in the City, Die in the City. Divided into groups, the students were teamed with top tier Israeli creative talent from ironSource, Waze and Wix to address one of the five themes. After an intensive, day-long session they presented their ideas to a panel of six including a high tech angel investor, web entrepreneur and municipal executives. Three winners were announced, and Mindstate is delighted that one of these, created in response to the Breathe in the City challenge, is currently in development with the Municipality of Tel Aviv.
